Our founder\u2019s eldest daughter Nastassia got a call from a friend who was out for a walk in the For\u00eat de Soignes in Brussels when he found a cardboard box with 7 kittens inside. The box was taped shut so the kittens couldn\u2019t get out. Nastassia brought the kittens to her mother\u2019s home while Ariane was abroad but she knew she couldn\u2019t leave them all there because Ariane would never be able to give them up for adoption as she gets attached very easily. <\/span><\/p>\n

Back then, having 4 cats was considered A LOT by most people\u2019s standards – look at her now with 14 cats- so Nastassia gave the 3 females to her boyfriend\u2019s mother before Ariane came back from her trip. The four males stayed.<\/span> We named them Taz, <\/span>Danger<\/a>, <\/span>Isis<\/a> and Rambo. <\/span>We brought them to the vet for a check up and they were all perfectly healthy 6-week old kittens.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

At one point Taz, who was the smallest of them all, was no longer eating and he could barely stand. We went to see so many vets but none helped, he wasn\u2019t getting any better and no one knew what was wrong with him.<\/p>\n

We even left him at the veterinary clinic for 5 days for monitoring. This didn\u2019t yield any answers either. Most of the vets had given up on Taz, we were told he only had one kidney and he wouldn\u2019t be living for very long.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Never one to give up hope, Ariane decided to take him everywhere with her in the car, believing that he might benefit from constant attention. Ariane was working as an architect at that time so she was in the car a lot, going from one client to the next. She set up a litter box in the car as well as some dry food and water. Taz would sometimes spend a whole day in there, running errands with her. He loved it, and he still loves being in the car; He\u2019s the only one of his brothers & sisters who does, the others truly do not enjoy it. He started eating again and was getting better and stronger each day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ariane believes it might be because he wasn\u2019t happy being surrounded by so many cats (4 existing + 3 brothers) and so his happy place was were he got to \u201cescape\u201d for a while.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nowadays, when he\u2019s feeling stressed, from the presence of dogs or too many other cats, he pees inside to mark his territory. We do NOT appreciate this behaviour, and make sure to let him know. Unfortunately, he does not seem to care what we think.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aside from that, he\u2019s terribly social with people; he loves everyone. He\u2019s got such great charisma that the people who come here tend to fall in love with him too.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth it to try multiple things before giving up hope. You never know what is going to end up helping. It might even be a small thing<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
